Can Altay is a visual artist who uses a variety of media to investigate spatial situations and practices. His solo exhibitions include: "Distributed" at Arcade, London, 2012; "COHAB: an assembly of spare parts" at Casco, Utrecht, 2011; "The Church Street Partners' Gazette" at the Showroom, London, 2010; "Setting a Setting / Forecasting a Broken Past" at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, 2008; "Ey Ahali! / Setting a Setting / Letting a Setting Go," Spike Island, Bristol, 2007; "No Bar, Just Bottles" at Sala Rekalde, Bilbao, 2006. Recent public projects include: "Inner Space Station" at Seward Park with Protocinema, New York, 2013; "Distributed", Frieze Projects East, London, 2012; "The Ground was Divided, We Jumped," at the Transeuropa Festival, in London, Paris, Bologna, Cluj Napoca, 2011; "PARK: bir ihtimal," at Nişantaşı Cumhuriyet Parkı, Istanbul, 2010. Altay has a PhD in Art, Design and Architecture from Bilkent University, Ankara, and a post-graduate degree in Critical Studies from Malmo Art Academy and Lund University. Born in Ankara, Altay lives and works in Istanbul and teaches at the Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Architecture.
