December 12, 2012

I Ran into Iran’s third episode playfully examines whether Iran is producing a nuclear bomb and investigates the effects of economic sanctions on the country’s citizens.

Katayoun Vaziri, I Ran into the Moon with Basil Wolverton, 2012.

In the third episode of I Ran into Iran, we discuss what it takes to make an atomic bomb. Is Iran trying to produce one? Are sanctions helping to defuse the situation? What are the effects of sanctions on ordinary Iranians? And how are our fellow artists doing?

Our first guest is founder of the Sanctioned Life campaign, which collects personal testimonies to document the social impact of sanctions against Iran. Per our guest’s request, we have called her Iran throughout this interview.

We also speak with Hasan Sarbakhsian about the effects of sanctions on Iranian artists. Hasan is a documentary photographer whose photos have appeared in the New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Time, The Economist and many other international newspapers and magazines.
