Thierry Geoffroy has worked with "format art" since 1989 and produces what he calls "ultra-contemporary art," or "art before it is too late." For the Copenhagen-based artist, also known as "Colonel," the contemporary art world is a flea market and we need to produce new platforms in order to inhabit time. Among Colonel's five "Art Formats," the best known is the exhibition "Emergency Room," which toured internationally, appearing at MoMA P.S.1 in 2007. In 2011, Colonel published The Emergency Room Dictionary and exhibited his work around the world, including at the Venice Biennale, the Athens Biennale, the ZKM Center for Art and Media, the Sprengel Museum Hannover and in Poland and Vietnam. A multimedia artist, he has also created three television series for the national Danish channel, DR, each of which was performed in his Colonel character and received high audience ratings.
